Selar Interest is Quietly Growing in Nigeria - And Smart Affiliates Are Cashing In

If you open Google Trends, and set it to Nigeria, and type "Selar", you'll see something interesting.
The line is quietly going up.
And according to Techpoint Africa, Selar grew from 20,000 creators to almost 400,000, and paid over ₦18 billion to creators in 2025 alone.
Nobody is shouting about it on Twitter, but smart Nigerians like you, are paying attention. Why? Because it solves the biggest problem we’re facing with foreign affiliate programs: PayPal and Dollar probs.
What Is Selar Inbetween?
Selar is a Nigerian platform where creators sell digital products like ebooks, courses, CV templates, and business guides.
Think of it as an online store for digital products. You don't need to create anything. You can become an affiliate, share a product link, and earn commission when someone buys through your link.
Why Is Selar Suddenly Growing? 3 Reasons
1. No Dollar Stress actually. It Pays in Naira. Unlike ClickBank or Digistore24, you don't need Payoneer or PayPal. Selar pays directly to OPay, Kuda, First Bank. The buyer also pays in Naira. That removes the biggest barrier for Nigerian customers.
2. Products People Can Actually Afford. Not $100 courses. Most products are ₦2,500 - ₦10,000. WhatsApp marketing, mini importation, CAC registration, CV writing. It's an easy yes for buyers.
3. Better Commission Than Jumia. Selar's own guidelines say affiliates must get at least 30% for most products (20% for products ₦50k and above). Some creators give 40-70%. Compare that to 3% on Jumia.
This is why interest is growing quietly. It's actually profitable for beginners.
A Quick Reality Check
Growth does not mean guaranteed money. Data shows 6 in 10 African creators still earn less than $100 a month. Treat this as a skill you build, not a shortcut. I explained the common traps here in 5 Affiliate Mistakes Beginners Make.
How to Start With Just Your Phone. A laydown Method
Step 1: Create Your Account (Understand The Fee)
Sign up on Selar.co is free. But there are 2 ways to be an affiliate:
- General Affiliate Marketplace - Costs ₦3,000 per year (check Selar for current price).
- Direct Creator Invite - FREE. A creator adds you to their product. You can only promote their product.
So it's "almost $0", not exactly $0. I prefer to be honest with you.
Step 2: Pick ONE Product You Can Explain
Don't chase "hot" products. Go to Marketplace, filter ₦3,000 - ₦7,500. Pick your best interest, and ask:
- Can I explain who needs this?
- Does the sales page have video and clear description?
- Would I recommend this to my own brother?
Good starters: small business guides, CV templates, exam prep.
Step 3: Get Your Affiliate Link
Copy your unique link and save it in your Notes app or anywhere safe for you. This is your shop.
Step 4: Create Content That Rides The Trend
Don't spam your link. Answer what people are already searching for:

- "Is [Product Name] Worth ₦5,000? Honest Review"
Post on your blog first (Google loves this topic now), then cut 2 tips from it and post to WhatsApp Status, TikTok, and Facebook daily. One problem, one product, one link.
Always tell people it's an affiliate link. That honesty builds trust.
What I Would Do If I Was Starting Today
One product. One platform (this blog + WhatsApp Status). One post per day for 30 days.
Every week, check which post got clicks. Make more of what worked. Early movers own Google results.
This quiet growth will become loud soon. link up now!
